K Bar Z Guest Ranch, nestled deep in the pines on the east slopes of the Rocky Mountains, is the jumping off place for a four to five hour horseback ride to our base camp in the Absaroka Wilderness, or hunt directly out of our lodge. This area is home to some of the most desirable hunting in the region.
Here you may have the once in a lifetime experience of “bagging the big one.” Our comfortable hunting camp is where hearty delicious meals are served and you can rest easy at the end of each day.
Our guides have more than 50 years of experience hunting big game in this part of the country. We invite you to plan your next hunt with our experienced staff.
Our ranch is located at 6,800 feet and most hunting is conducted at high altitudes in steep terrain. Hunts are conducted on horseback, mostly spot and stalk situations.
About Our Hunts
We have owned the K-Z for over 29 years and our family has been guiding hunters for over 39 years. We provide excellent, experienced guides; hearty, delicious meals; comfortable sleep tents; and gentle, trusted horses for your hunting adventure.
We are licensed and insured in Wyoming. Big Game Outfitting license number: BG159.
We have a high success rate and are proud of the fact that we have been able to show our hunters different elk & deer to choose from. Our lodge is located in the middle of the migration pattern, from Yellowstone National Park to Sunlight winter range. This enables us to keep an eye on the game year round.
We have 2 hunting camps in the Absaroka Wilderness as well as being able to hunt right out of the lodge. We hunt in Elk Area 51 and Deer Region F.
If you are interested in flying to our ranch, we are happy to transport you to and from the Cody, WY or Billings, MT airports.
